Hi there welcome to a new Q&A session
Today I have a question that I have received many times so it’s time to answer it.
Do i need a Facebook account to create a business page?
Yes. You have to have a personal Facebook account if you want to create a Facebook business page.
You can keep both pages, and business profile, completely separate and nobody needs to know that they are linked.
All small businesses and big ones , including big brands such as Coca cola or Adidas, follow the same rule as there is no way around them.
Go and check these brand’s profiles on Facebook and you won’t be able to identify the individual who has actually created the Facebook business page or whoever is managing it.
Your personal information and timeline will remain private as long as you update your personal Facebook settings accordingly.
Facebook essentially forces you to create an account so they can be sure that someone human is managing it and complies with their legal requirements.
This will work well especially if you are a small business owner and are able to manage your own Facebook business page.
But what about if you need to ask someone else to manage your business Facebook page?
Thankfully there is an option on your business profile that allows to give permission to someone else.
You can even specify what credential they will have and limit their interaction with the page to a specific role such as an editor or a full admin.
You, can remain the only administrator if you wish.
You may be tempted to create a ghost personal Facebook account profile with made up information from which you can then create a business page.
This is very easily done and I have seen this being suggested on some Facebook forums and tutorials.
I would recommend very strongly you don’t go down that path. This is totally against Facebook terms and conditions and if you get found out the account may be shut down with no warning.
Imagine for a second that you have gathered many likes, followers and connections on your facebook business profile only to be shut down overnight.
I don’t think that would make you very happy. Not to mention how damaging it would be for your small business
I hope you’ve found this useful.
